Guthrie Center Junior High School is located in the southeast area of town. The facility was built as an addition to the high school in 1993. The building is host to approximately 100 students in 7th and 8th grade. The classrooms are departmentalized, with a number of exploratory classes for the students to get a better understanding of the world around them. Opportunities are also found outside of the classroom. A broad range of athletic activities is offered, as well as instrumental and vocal music, Academic Team, Destination Imagination and Mock Trial. A student council is also formed to help the students gain a better understanding of government and also encourage community involvement.
